Brixham Does Care’s triple plan to celebrate Christmas – twice LIVE and once online.
Long hair, colourful tops and headgear, scarves, sunglasses, guitars and flowers of every hue were very much on show when Martyn & Josephine Paddon hosted the latest Brixham Does Care online singalong, based on the theme “FLOWER POWER”. Songs featured were originally recorded by “Thunderclap” Newman, The Byrds, Lovin’ Spoonful, Mama Cass, The Flowerpot Men, Simon & Garfunkel, The Archies, Jeff Beck and Scott McKenzie, among others.
The next scheduled online Meeting is:
The BDC “CHRISTMAS” Zoom Singalong on FRIDAY 10th December 2021 at 2pm.
As well as our favourite Christmas songs, there will be room for a few carols, too!
Again, the dress code can be ANYTHING YOU LIKE. Something festive would fit the bill, with red, white, green and gold being the main colours of Christmas.
Of course, fancy dress is not obligatory. It just adds to the fun. Taking part is the most important thing. If you would like details of how to join a Zoom Meeting, contact Martyn Paddon via email: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 01803 851438.
Following the sudden cancellation in March 2020 of all social gatherings in the Brixham Does Care Café (aka theTown Hall Function Room) because of the pandemic, this year the charity is planning TWO LIVE, socially distanced Mince Pie Christmas Singalongs in the same venue in December on consecutive Mondays (6th & 13th December 2021), both events lasting from 12.45pm – 2.45pm. Doors open 12.15pm. Tickets £5 must be pre-booked from the BDC Office next door (01803 857727) and include a cuppa and a mince pie in the interval PLUS your raffle ticket. Donated raffle prizes would be appreciated. Attendees must show proof of full Covid – 19 vaccination, practise social distancing and wear a face mask when not seated. ONLY 20 TICKETS per event are available. Priority is being given to regular patrons of previous Singalongs, who are being contacted first, before any remaining tickets are sold.
Meanwhile, our charity is cautiously emerging from lockdown. Some groups and activities resumed in August, with a choice of Scrabble on Mondays, Knit & Natter and the Support Group on Tuesdays, Knit Together and the Ladies Group on Wednesdays, Colour & Chat and Art on Thursdays and Bridge and Handicraft on Fridays. Phone 01803 857727 to book a place.
