Brixham Does Care is a registered befriending charity founded in 1978, which attempts to combat loneliness, isolation and despair. We offer support to people of all ages and client groups in communities.
A big “Thank You” is due to Liberty Cocktail Bar (Brixham
Quay), who hosted a Christmas Party with a FREE Buffet for 60 Brixham Does Care
volunteers, staff and their partners.
The food was delicious, the staff really friendly and the great
atmosphere persuaded some of the guests to try a cocktail or two!
JR’s (also on The Quay), hosted a FREE Sunday Lunch for 16
BDC volunteers, thanks to the generosity of local businesses Bookers
(Paignton), Regency Wines (Exeter), The Co-Op, Cards 2 Confetti and Ella’s
Chocolate Emporium (all Fore Street, Brixham), The Bay Coffee Shop,
Inspirations of Brixham, and, of course, JR’s (all situated on The Quay).
The charity is indebted to numerous businesses and other organisations and individuals for their continued support. For example, Stockman & Loram print the monthly Newsletter; Simply Fish provide FREE Fish & Chips every Monday; The Co-Op run their Local Causes Scheme that allows customers to nominate Brixham Does Care to receive money. Brixham Town Council operates their Council Tax Precept scheme, giving financial support;
Befriending charity Brixham Does Care hosted a Magical Music Night in the Sc ala Hall on Friday 6th December, when a scrumptious supper from David’s Fish & Chip shop was served up by the BDC staff, followed by lashings of Brixham Town Band, raising £1109 on the night.
On Monday 9th Furzeham Primary School Choir performed
at the annual Mince Pie Christmas Singalong in the Brixham Does Care Café,
where another packed audience enjoyed delicious mince pies kindly donated by
Tesco & Co., raising a further £204 at this afternoon event. Father Christmas made a surprise appearance,
joining Christmas elves Martyn, Josephine, Eileen, Julia and Barbara, all
resplendent in their Christmas attire. Everyone
had a good time.
