THE STAGE is set for the 12th Edition of “Memories Are Made Of This”, the annual fundraising variety show at the Berry Head Hotel, Brixham, on Wednesday 2nd October, which gives talented members of the community, young and older, the opportunity to perform in the night club setting of the Mulberry Room, and allows easy access onto the dance floor for all abilities.  Performers include  the primary school pupils of Furzeham Performing Arts Group;   exciting young talent, Harrison, a seventeen year old male vocalist currently studying at South Devon College; the award winning Totnes School Of Dance, fresh from the Dance World Cup Final in Portugal; songstress Tina Shiraz, inviting us to get up to dance; guitarist, Rick Courtney, sure to have us reaching for our air guitars; and evergreen comedian, Vic Baulton, star of radio, stage and TV;  Compere Martyn Paddon will add a few timeless classics into the mix.   Proceeds will go to befriending charity Brixham Does Care .   In recognition of the varying ages of both the performers and audience, please note that this year’s show will begin earlier at 6.30pm, (Doors 5.45pm) and finish at 9.30pm.    Tickets £6 from BDC Office at the Town Hall

On Monday 23rd September 2019 the Brixham Does Care Café will once again be the venue for Martyn & Josephine’s Super September Song & Dance Party, from 1.45 to 3.45pm.   Tickets costing £4 include a cuppa and a slice of cake during the interval, when a raffle will also take place, and are available from the BDC Office, situated next door in the Town Hall.   (01803 857727.   Extra refreshments are available from the bar.   Donated raffle prizes are always appreciated.   Doors open at 1.15pm.   Regulars to this popular event will be pleased to learn that the last party (in July) raised £137 towards the befriending charity’s funds.   On that occasion, our very own Poet Laureate, Clarice Westlake, surprised us all with a personalised ode to the party hosts (see below).   I’m sure Clarice will treat us to another offering during the half-time break.   If YOU haven’t already joined the party, why not mark your calendar and come along on the 23rd.   A warm welcome awaits you
